Covid-19 Relief Fund

The Coronavirus Pandemic has us all living in strange and trying times. In this moment of history, how we respond is crucial. And so, Botshabelo is choosing to be prepared, but not to panic. We are choosing kindness over selfishness. We are choosing faith over fear. We are choosing big-picture-thinking over self-preservation. We are choosing community – not the together and gathering kind, but the rallying towards one another – to support and love and show generosity – in a number of creative ways.

While we don’t know the end of this story just yet, we do know that many of South Africa’s most vulnerable people will suffer gravely from this pandemic. Even if our country manages to contain the virus quickly, the effect of the Coronavirus disruptions will be felt in so many other ways for many months.

Those already living from hand to mouth in our nation are already feeling the pinch, the loss, the panic of “what’s next?” And months from now, when life has returned to the new normal, there will still be fallout, there will still be families who have lost income, and houses, and jobs…

This is why Botshabelo is launching a Coronavirus Relief Fund in this critical time. We are connected to many families in need through our programmes and so receive requests and pleas from those in our network. We want to be able to respond with food parcels, hygiene packs and other assistance (vouchers during Lock Down) as each family needs. We know that we won’t be able to help everyone, but we want to do what we can, where we can. And we need YOUR help!
